Map Sitra Photos Sitra ------------------------------- Sitrah (Arabic: ????), also spelled as Sitra without "h", is a city in northwestern Bahrain. It was a municipality of Bahrain in the eastern part of the country. The region of Sitrah consists of the island of Sitrah and three villages close to it on the main island of Bahrain. Its territory is now in the Central Governorate. This area is mainly inhabited by the Shia Muslim population. The Island has many villages, none of them is called Sitrah. Bahrain's small size and central location among Persian Gulf countries require it to play a delicate balancing act in foreign affairs among its larger neighbors. Facing declining oil reserves, Bahrain has turned to petroleum processing and refining and has transformed itself into an international banking center.
