It was a municipality of Bahrain in the eastern part of the country. The region of Sitrah consists of the island of Sitrah and three villages close to it on the main island of Bahrain. Its territory is now in the Central Governorate. This area is mainly inhabited by the Shia Muslim population. The Island has many villages, none of them is called Sitrah.
